Mailing Out

Alas, it is finally finished. I spent the last couple of days warring with myself over whether or not to fill the first page before she begins, but I like her solo. This is a little different from what I normally do and I hope you all like it. It was very time consuming.

Tim, this is headed your way today!

Tyler's moly

This is Tyler's wonderful moly I received last Thursday! Sorry about the crooked scan. I very much look forward to diving into this moly this week. :] I'll mail mine and Tyler's out seperately, Tim, to avoid a sudden surge of multiple molies.

So, I have a couple questions while I'm posting (I seem to have a million of them, don't I?)

1.) Tyler, Tim, are there themes to your books that you would like to see executed? I noticed Tyler that your book has "Natural History" written on your sign in page on your square. Would you like to see that theme executed throughout the book?

2.) Since there are only four of us and thirty pages in the book, if we do this all in one round, we should be doing 7.5-ish pages. Do we want to do that or do we want to go a couple rounds and just do the usual 3 to 4? I, personally, think multiple rounds would be good. I think almost 8 pages per person would be overwhelming and difficult to do compositionally.

I'll have mine up soon, too! Happy molying, folks. Cheers!

Sign-In Page

Here's my sign-in page. It doesn't show up great in this scan but the 73 is over some nice shiny silver paper. I'm going to send this to Tyler.

I think 4 is enough for this group if we're all active, but feel free to recruit a couple more if you like.

Starting Over?

Hey guys. What happened over here? There hasn't been much progress on the Collage Group.

Is everyone still game? Or should we go ahead and take the time for people who can't do it to go ahead and drop and maybe regroup with new members with no hard feelings? I'd hate for this group to sit and remain dead. Lets breathe some life into this!

I, for one, have been so busy the past few months moving and readjusting to a new city and a new college, so I apologize for my own lack of art. I'm settled and ready to go, though! I also propose that if we do decide to go through with this (by whatever means we decide) that we set a first mail out date so we're all on the same page.

So, what say you fine molyers? :]

Here's my spread for my book. This is still in progress...I'm planning on layering some more text and maybe some other elements but this is the gist of it. Let me know what you think.

Hmmmmm.

I think that you all should introduce yourselves.

Hey Morissa, are you going back to summer camp this year, maybe as a counselor or a  lifeguard?

Tyler, how did you end up in South Africa?

Tim, any more responses to our mollies in the show up there in Rochester?

Ms. Millam, did you just celebrate your birthday at Disneyland?

This is what Alicia has to say:

o hai thar I'm Alecia, a 21-year-old from good ole Oregon. I'm a barista at a local coffee house and a teacher's assistant for college level acting classes out at the local community college. I'm an art major and am hopefully going to the Pacific Northwest College of the Arts

I love all forms of art and never usually stick to just one medium. I love to travel (though I never really have money to,) act, teach, piddle around on the internet, write and spend a lot of time at the beach or the park. I'm a pretty liberal person (go figure) and am a vegetarian. I'm currently on my way to becoming a crazy cat lady. I'm in a long-term relationship with a lovely boy who is currently studying abroad in Rabat, Morocco. Both of us are huge Who fans and you can see us zipping around town on his Vespa when he is home.

What's up with the name R-A-T-T-Y? I have a good rat joke for you sometime. The punchline: "Big f---in' rats with d--ks this big!"

Shaking the Bushes

Well, we've taken off with all the zip and flash of a dud bottle rocket. So can everyone check in and decide whether or not you're interested? If not, it's no problem and we'll recruit some new people and set a date for mailings. But no movement for a month usually means something is dead, and that's no way to start.

Do tell.

Re: mailing order

Please make sure that everyone has flickr mailed their address to me. So far it looks like I will be mailing out in a month however the order is not clear because we are still missing 2 of our members.

I am going to start already and hopefully I get a complete list of people's addresses soon. In the mean time, hold tight!

Fear A GoGo

Bit o' the intro

Hello 73 Gang. Since this is my first exchange, I thought I should do a brief introduction.

I was born.....just kidding. I'm an American living in Pretoria, South Africa and I've worked as a writer, editor and photographer within the world of newspapers and magazines for the last 10+ years. I previously lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, Dominican Republic, Texas, Colorado, D.C. and Botswana. I've been in southern Africa for almost three years now (my wife is posted here with the U.S. foreign service) and have written about everything from Mozambique's hot sauce (peri-peri) to last year's xenophobic violence in South Africa. It has been tough to find fellow creative souls out here so I'm really looking forward to this project.
